Governor’s wife on the receiving end – Weekly Citizen

Residents of Trans Nzoia county led by Bukusu elders from Cherangany and Kwanza have demanded to know the role of Lydia Khaemba, wife of Governor Patrick Khaemba, who seems to run county government discreetly with the blessings of her husband.
They said recently, the county employed 31 nurses and 26 were from the neighbouring county, something that has made residents lose hope in the county administration.
They said they do not understand Lydia who has exerted influence in the county ministry of health on health pilot projects, tenders and employment.

They added Lydia has been taking huge tenders from health department and when it comes to employment, influences the employment of people who are not residents of the county to achieve her own intentions, shutting out genuine residents of the county.
“She only wants to come in to instruct people from other counties to be employed but not the residents of Trans Nzoia,” they lamented.
They also added that another problem facing Trans Nzoia centered on the level of education which has continued to deteriorate.
Recentyly, some junior officers are said to have instructed and given permission to wage war against the chairman of the workers’ union Samuel Kiboi.
They also pointed out that brokers run Kwanza market and have influenced a senior county government officer to give them plots.
They said the governor should be careful with people who are destroying his name.
“Even if she is his wife, Lydia should keep off from county projects because we only voted for Khaemba and not Lydia.
