Kenyans joins the world in marking Boxing Day

Published

Kenyans Wednesday joined the rest of the world in marking Boxing Day, the last holiday this year before ushering in the New Year.

Boxing Day is observed in most commonwealth countries as a public holiday. Boxing Day is the first weekday after Christmas.

There are several competing theories about its origin. However, it is generally agreed that Boxing Day is associated with acts of charity and the opening of Christmas boxes to view gifts.

In other countries, the day is a shopping holiday much like Black Friday in the U.S, when products are sold for much-reduced prices.
