Ex- Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal believes that Manchester United's current success of making the Champions League quarter-finals this season is thanks to Jose Mourinho's work.
The Dutchman says that new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is using the same tactics as Mourinho and sees no difference between what the two managers were doing.
"The coach after me Mourinho changed to park the bus tactics and played on the counter. Now there is another coach who parks the bus and plays on the counter," he told BBC Sport.
"The main difference between Mourinho and Solskjaer is that he is winning," he said.
The veteran manager who worked with the best teams across Netherlands, Germany, Spain and England views United as potential Champions League winners because of their defensive system.
"It is very important that Manchester United qualify for the Champions League as it was when I was manager.
"But they can also win the champions League because they play a defensive system and it's very difficult to beat them, which , whether you like it or not, is the result of Mourinho's work," he said.
Mourinho managed to beat Juventus at the Allianz Satdium and gave Manchester United a favourable position to qualify for the round of 16.
It was also Mourinho who brought in Diogo Dalot and Fred, whose efforts against Paris Saint-Germain gave Manchester United a big victory over the Parisians in Paris.
Van Gaal further shot down the notion that Solskjaer played the same attacking football as Sir Alex Ferguson did during his reign at Old Trafford.
"But the way Manchester United are playing is not the way Ferguson played. It is defensive, counter attacking football If you like it, you like it.
"If you think it is more exciting than my boring attacking, OK. But it is not my truth," he said.
TUKO.co ke previously reported that Red Devils boss Solskjaer, has started plans to revamp his squad after being handed the managerial role on full-time basis.
Solskjaer replaced Mourinho in December 2018 on interim capacity, but was handed the job permanently after an impressive start at Old Trafford.
