Two sisters who survived the brutal terrorist attack today by Al Shabaab will always live to tell their story.

Yesterday, DusitD2 located at Riverside Drive was attacked by gunmen who also blew up some cars.

An eyewitness believed to be a hawker operating opposite the establishment, revealed that one of the suspects responsible for the Tuesday attack had visited the building at least two times before the incident.

Media outlets also interviewed a witness who claimed that the first time he spotted the vehicle, the driver asked him to watch over it.

He alleged that after the alleged attacker parked the car at the side park, he then got into Dusit D2 and ordered a cup of coffee.

Once he left the restaurant, the eyewitness claimed that he gave him Kshs 100 for watching over the vehicle and left.

He then reported that the second time he saw the alleged suspect who arrived in the same tinted car, he talked to no one.

The eyewitness claimed that Tuesday was the third time he saw the vehicle at Dusit D2.

Describing the driver, the eyewitness said:

“He is huge, he looks like a person who goes to the gym,” the witness claimed.

In another account, another young man who claimed to have been present when the attack started, claimed that he had seen the vehicle, which he described as a tinted Toyota Ractis, four times at the establishment.

The hawker told KTN News that the vehicle seemed suspicious because it never picked or dropped any passengers, save for one time that the driver got out and entered the hotel.

He claimed that he saw the car get into the establishment, parked along the barriers and that is when the shooting began.

The two sisters who survived the attack were admitted at Avenue hospital but were discharged shortly after.

The ladies who are sisters were having lunch at the Secret gardens when the explosion happened.

They were able to hide at the counter before they were rescued. The lady who did not want to give her name said the first explosion happened at the Secret Garden where there were many casualties.

Another survivor spoke to Citizen TV and explained what had happened:

“When I was walking into the hotel, I heard loud gunshots. Before I knew it, we were running helter-skelter to run away from the terrorists.

“During the commotion, we heard a group of around four men speaking to themselves, saying ‘ua hao, ua hao (Kill them, kill them) but I did not see them. However, a group of three women, who I was within hiding, saw the attackers’ faces.”

Yet another survivor of the Dusit D2 attacked added:

“We heard a blast, people tried to disappear, shortly, people heard gunshots and were forced to run back inside,” he stated.

“I tried to escape with a friend but she fainted as we ran away from the gunshots,” one woman told KTN News. “So I had to leave her and hide in one of the bathrooms until the police came and rescued me.”

One witness said that she had seen body parts as she left the site, and there were reports of gun victims, including at least one child, being treated at local hospitals.
