The National Assembly and the Senate are currently held up in meeting to forge a common front after they were sued by activist Okiya Omtata and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) over the payment house allowances.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi invited the MPs and Senators to the informal sitting the day Parliament resumed business after a short recess.
The meeting is intended to find an opportunity to brief members and staff of the ongoing dispute between the SRC and the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma had written to the national assembly Speaker requesting that a Kamukunji be held.

Last month, all the 416 members of the two Houses were paid a Sh250,000 monthly house allowance that was backdated to October 5th, 2018, the day High Court Judge Chacha Mwita ruled that deputy governors and other state officers are entitled to a house or a house allowance.
SRC opposed the move and went to court to compel the Mps to give back 700 million shillings they received as house allowance over the period.
Last week, Justice John Mativo ordered the PSC to stop paying the allowances until the case is heard and determined on June 12.
