MYDAWA partners with KPA to train pharmaceutical technologists

MYDAWA, an online retail pharmacy has partnered with Kenya Pharmaceutical Association (KPA), in a move that will enable Kenyans have access to quality health services.

The partnership’s agenda also includes training programmes for healthcare professionals, joint public engagement through awareness campaigns and education advocacy programs on the safety of medicine.

MYDAWA Managing Director Tony Wood said the training and advocacy programmes will be done through the dissemination of information material, regular joint surveys and research studies on behavioral patterns.

He said the organisation through its innovative e-health solution, will provide members of the public with a platform that will enable them have access to genuine and quality medicine at affordable prices which will also be easily available.

Speaking on November 27 during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Mr. Wood said access to quality healthcare is one of the fundamental rights of a human being and a pre-requisite to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

“As an innovative solution, we are constantly seeking ways we can implement our vision of ensuring better health outcomes for all. Indeed this partnership continues to reaffirm this promise,” said Mr. Wood.

He noted that besides offering quality medicine and conducting behavior change programmes, undertaking joint social research in medicine, partnering in health awareness events and consumer engagement the two entities are committed to make healthcare in the country patient and value based.

“We will use technology to drive the change in the country,” added Mr. Wood.

The two partners intend to engage policy makers to disseminate the findings of research carried out while lobbying for implementation of patient-centric approaches that ensure healthcare management in Kenya retains and enhances standards creating better health outcomes.

In his remarks, KPA National Chairman Patrick Adera lauded the partnership saying that it will reinforce KPA’s mission of practicing pharmacy in the highest standards possible.

“We are delighted to be partners with a global innovative brand, MYDAWA, recognizable in the healthcare industry for its disruptive solution,” he said.

MYDAWA is the first licensed e-retailing pharmacy to be fully regulated by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board in Kenya and is a technology-based service that enables consumers to conveniently purchase authentic high-quality medicine and other health products.

The company aims to bridge the gaps between healthcare providers and patients thus improving quality and cost of healthcare.
