Ongwae deserts deputy at the hour of need – Weekly Citizen

Published

on

Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi is at war with his boss James Ongwae over his continued silence to endorse him for the 2022 political succession race with revelations that the governor has paraded a different team which will protect his legacy once he retires.
Having served two senators, Chris Obure and Sam Ongeri, two speakers Kerosi Ondieki and David Kombo and two women representatives Mary Otara and Janet Ong’era, Ongwae has known the strengths and weaknesses of local politicians and is scrutinising a political lineup which will sweep the polls across the board.
Maangi is the sole candidate from the Abamachoge clan following the chickening out of Albert Nyaundi.
Among those Ongwae has brought on board are Senator Ongeri as governor, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard

Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka

Senator Sam Ongeri

Onyonka as deputy governor, former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara as senator and current women representative Janet Ong’era for the same position.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has pulled out from the race. This leaves Rachael Otundo, as the only independent candidate for the gubernatorial seat.
Onyonka has maintained that he is going for the gubernatorial seat and is said to have differed with William Ruto after he learnt that the Tanga Tanga team has earmarked Don Bosco Gichana for the Kitutu Chache seat which was against his wish hence the reason to reach a compromise with Ongwae.
Gichana has retained his former friends including Zaheer Jhanda while recruiting more.

Governor Ongwae’s new political move will see the Bogetutu clan retaining the Ongwae legacy as Onyonka will be micromanaging aging Ongeri who is now 84 years old with Maangi’s team aligned to Ruto.
To counter Ongeri, Maangi is contemplating picking Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i as his deputy on grounds that he has solid support from the Boguche clan where Ongeri also hails from and having served for two terms from three different political parties of Wiper, Ford People and Jubilee.
The deputy governor to counter Ong’era plans to pick former women representative Mary Otara came third on an independent party ticket to Ongera and Doris Aburi alias Donya of ODM and Jubilee respectively.
As much as Ongeri and Tong’i hail from the Nyaribari clan, numbers will beat them because they belong to the Boguche sub clan which is being targeted by three other subclans of Kamba Nane, Botondo and Bosigisa.
So far, Otundo, is the only one who has declared interest for the top seat from the three subclans which complain to have been underrepresented since devolution came into place and say there must be an MoU with the Boguche subclan if they are to walk the same journey.

Garissa governor Ali Korane has said paying contractors with outstanding bills by the end of this month will not be possible.
Korane said his administration inherited a Sh4 billion in outstanding bills from the previous regime which is about 50pc of total budget to the county.

The governor said that despite the huge bills that his administration inherited, there is no infrastructure on the ground to reflect the same.
Korane added that his administration had to suspend its taskforce after the government took charge of the exercise.
The governor said even if it will be established that the projects are genuine, they will have to be budgeted for again.
Korane who has time and again lamented over the huge debts his administration inherited from the previous regime urged all those with pending bills to be patient and allow his administration to verify the projects awarded.
During former governor Nathif Jama’s administration, the contractors clashed on several occasions with his administration over nonpayment of pending bills.

Newly released Sony Xperia 1 smartphone breathtaking – Weekly Citizen

Published

on

The Sony Xperia 1 is a solid improvement on most of Sony’s recent smartphones – it has a few mis-steps and annoyances, but it’ll be of  interest to many. It was announced on February 25 and released in May 29.

The Xperia one also known as J9110, is a dual nano sim smartphone that stands tall above

the rest. Its signature feature is the extra-tall, 6.5-inch AMOLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio and 4K resolution. It is also the first Sony flagship phone to feature three rear cameras:12MP  super wide-angle camera, a12MP telephoto camera for zooming, and 12MPmain camera for every-day use. The powerful Snapdragon 855 ticks on the inside next to a 3330mAh battery. Its OS Android 9(pie)

The pros of this phone over others include the 6.5 inch display, high quality triple cameras, high quality audio as it has 24-bit/192kHz DAC and Dolby Atmos sound , good connectivity(LTE, Wifi 5,NFC,Bluetooth 5.0)

Other features include fingerprint side-mounted, huge 6 GB RAM, and choose between 64GB and 128GB storage expandable to 1TB via sim slot2

The battery life is good, that is,3330 mAh(24.8h 3G talk time, its lightweight  and thin (178g), waterproof, HDR video support, Scratch-resistant glass (Corning Gorilla Glass 6), Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor and many others.

Based on the camera properties and the video technology applied  it is worth noting that its  aimed at movie-makers, with a specific movie creation app and range of settings for optimizing viewing(Optical image stabilization, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Time-lapse video, Digital image stabilization, Video calling, Video sharing).

Having mentioned some features and still many more, definitely this brilliant phone has a high  price of Ksh109,000.00 online.

Overall the phone is beautifully designed , fast and of good quality.
