The owner of the condemned seven-story building in Kayole estate in Nairobi Caroline Wanjiru has been arrested for constructing a building without approvals and ignoring a demolition notice.
Speaking Friday at the start of the demolition exercise of the building, Nairobi county governor Mike Sonko issued a stern warning to other individuals putting up buildings in Nairobi County without genuine approvals.
” My admin cannot sit back and watch innocent Kenyans trapped in collapsed buildings because of corruption.This morning a multi-agency team led by City Hall officials arrested owner of a condemned 7-storey building in Kayole for building without approvals/ignoring a demolition notice” He said.

The building is located at Bee Centre, Harry’s Tavern along Kayole Spine Road.
The Nairobi county government had on Thursday ordered the demolition of the building.
