Police say they have rescued 174 people overnight from 14 Riverside complex, the scene of a suspected terror attack on Tuesday.

Evacuation is still ongoing as authorities confirmed they are in control of CCTV cameras of the complex.

Among those rescued was NTV reporter Silas Apollo, together with his cameraman Dickson Onyango, who had gone to interview some of the members of the Commission for Revenue Allocation (CRA) at their Grosvenor Suite offices in Riverside.

Mr Apollo was rescued at around 3 in the morning, more than 10 hours after the attack happened. He and the others had to cram up in the toilet on the second floor, awaiting rescue.

In a WhatsApp group, Mr Apollo shared with other journalists how scared he was. He could hear gunshots all over the building, he said.

Authorities reported that “scores” of Kenyans and foreign nationals had been evacuated from the compound, and that the site had been secured, but sporadic gunfire is still being heard hours after the all-clear had been given.
