Monday January 21, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday breached the security protocol after he sneaked away with Opposition Leader, Raila Odinga, without any security detail.

In a surprise decision that apparently caught his security and protocol officers flat-footed, Uhuru changed his mind at the last minute about boarding his jet at the Kisumu International Airport after attending the burial of his friend, Bruce Odhiambo, who was also the former Youth Enterprise Development Fund chairman. Instead, he chose to accompany Raila, driving away in two cars without any bodyguards in the tour of Kisumu before crossing over to the nearby Yatch Club for fish and ugali. According to sources at the airport, the President had told his security commandant that he did not need an elaborate escort. They sneaked away in the SUVs without anyone noticing. However, police officers in two Land Cruisers trailed the President’s unmarked car from a distance. “It was unbelievable. It happened so fast, everyone was thrown into a spin. No one knew where the two were going at dusk without security escorts. We later heard they were at the port of Kisumu,” said one of State officials.
