Shujaa head coach Murunga names squad for Dubai series




National men’s rugby sevens head coach Paul Murunga has named the Kenyan squad that will take part in the HSBC World Sevens series Dubai round from Friday next week.

The squad features Leonard Mugaisi who makes a comeback after being out since the 2016/17 season, Singapore sevens winners Alvin Otieno and Samuel Motari.

National Sevens Circuit top scorers Daniel Taabu of Mwamba and Johnstone Olindi will be making their debut for the team captained by Kenya Harlequins half-back Eden Agero.

Others include Eric Ombasa, Dennis Ombachi, Herman Humwa and Jeff Oluoch. At Dubai 7s,

Elsewhere, men’s rugby 15’s team the Simbas have dropped in the latest World rankings from position 29 to 30.

The Simbas dropped one place after their defeat to Hong Kong at the ongoing 2019 Rugby World Cup qualifier in France.

New Zealand tops the standings with 92.54 points while Ireland and Wales are ranked second and third with 91.17 and 86.70 points respectively.

South Africa is the highly ranked African team with 85.12 points.
