Remember the preacher who predicted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election back in August, 2017? Well, he is back in the limelight once again.

Pastor Edward Mwai of Jesus Winner Ministry rose to prominence after hosting Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto to a Sunday service last year where he prayed for the pair’s victory.

ZIPO.co.ke has established that Mwai is the man behind the purchase of Uchumi Supermarket land in Kasarani for a staggering Sh2.8 billion.

Reports have it that the pastor and three other men of the cloth have through Jewel Complex Limited paid a Sh330 million deposit for the prime parcel.

A stroll through the Church’s social media handles shows an elaborate plan to put up a gargantuan modern complex which is a major shift from its current somewhat humble sanctuary in Roysambu.

The cash-strapped retailer announced not long ago its intentions to liquidate the high valued asset to the highest bidder.

Three other Pastors named in the transaction are James Kiongo Mwai, Paul Gichohi Mutune, and Raphael Mwiti Thiauru.

Kiongo and Mwiti and a fifth shareholder identified as Agnes Wanjiku Kiongo each own 18.18 per cent of Jewel Complex while Bishop Mwai enjoys the lion’s share of 36.36 per cent. Gichohi owns 9.09 per cent.

Uchumi owes suppliers Sh3.6 billion and hopes the proceeds from the sale will give it the financial boost it needs to get back on its feet.
