Andriy Yarmolenko's first half goal and Aaron Cresswell's 84th sensational freekick sealed a 2-0 win for West Ham over Man United at London Stadium on Sunday, September 22.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a couple of changes to the side that secured a 1-0 unconvincing win over Astana in the Europa League, with the goalscorer of the fixture-Mason Greenwood failing to make the London trip.

The changes saw United revert to the regular line up, with David de Gea, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all making a return to the fold.

The squad tweak however could not save the Red Devils from an embarassing defeat against a West Ham side who have their eyes trained on a run to the European places.

The visitors came closest to taking the lead in the 21st minute, with Marcus Rashford and Wan-Bissaka both missing glorious chances.

A wary West Ham-side went on to take the lead in the 44th minute via Yarmolenko who wrapped his left foot around the ball to arrow it into the far corner.

United nearly equalised just two minutes into the second half, but West Ham survived advances from Rashford and Daniel James.

Rashford would however be forced out in the 68th minute with an injury, paving way for Jesse Lingard who made little or no impact.

The dying minutes of the clash saw the home side push for another goal, and their efforts were rewarded after Ashley Young making a crude challenge on Mark Noble who eventually won the foul.

Cresswell stepped up to take the free-kick, bending it to the top corner to beat De Gea.

The defeat now leaves the Old Trafford dwellers sitting eighth on the Premier League standings with eight points.
