Thursday November 29, 2018 - Parliament now risks being dissolved and MPs rendered jobless as early as February next year if the Gender Bill, whose voting was deferred to next year, fails to be sail through by then. Yesterday, National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, who sponsored the Bill, made a tactical retreat after failing to marshal the minimum required number of 233 MPs to pass the crucial Bill, opting to shelve the vote to February next year. Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, Gladys Shollei, is pushing for the dissolution of the National Assembly by February next year should the postponed Gender Bill flop again. According to Shollei, there will be no need to have a National Assembly in place if it can’t support the implementation of constitutional requirements. She urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve Parliament and render every MP jobless if they fail to pass the Bill in February.
