Brazil to Evacuate Citizens From Ukraine Only Next Week

The Brazilian government is prepared to dispatch a group of military officials and bureaucrats from the Foreign Ministry, using the Brazilian Air Force Cargo plane, to Poland to repatriate its nationals fleeing from Ukraine owing to the Russian invasion.

The jet-powered Embraer C-390 Millennium aircraft will be flagged off from Brasília Air Force Base on March 7 bound for Warsaw, where it is reported that hundreds of Brazilians are stranded.

The government has also stated that a second aircraft will be on standby to cover for remaining Brazilians if the first aircraft become full.

On their way to Warsaw, 11.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid will be taken to aid the victims affected by the ongoing war in Eastern Europe.

The expedition will take three days as they will get back to Brazil on Thursday, March 10.

Meanwhile, President Jair Bolsonaro is in talks with top government officials as he prepares to sign a decree granting six-month humanitarian visas to Ukrainians who have crossed borders to various neighbouring countries such as Poland and Romania.
