Kenya’s Abraham Kiptum has confirmed participation in this year’s Abu Dhabi Marathon in the United Arab Emirates, a month after breaking the World half marathon record in Valencia.
His record-breaking run in Spain came just two months after he finished second behind compatriot Daniel Kipchumba at the Copenhagen Half marathon.
Joyciline Jepkosgei also set the World record a year ago, with Kiptum attributing that to the favorable course in the Spanish city.
Kiptum won the Laikipia University 10km race two weeks after the Copenhagen race, then finished second at the Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial Ndalat Gaa Cross Country in Nandi.
