Politics 00:09 Sunday January 20, 2019-Renowned human rights crusader, Boniface Mwangi, has claimed that a powerful Kenyan politician is doing illegal businesses with Al Shabaab financiers in Somalia.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Mwangi said the individual is a member of the National Assembly who 'held a press conference a few years ago to say he has a list of who is funding terrorists in Kenya'.

"That politician and his North Eastern cartel run a contraband smuggling ring from Kismayo to Kenya. They also help coordinate how Somali warlords can invest their money in Kenya," Mwangi wrote.  Even though Mwangi did not mention his name, it is without a secret that Garissa Town MP, Aden Duale, has links with Al Shabaab. In a press conference in April 2016, Duale accompanied by several leaders from North Eastern pledged to give names of financiers and sympathisers of Al-Shabaab, within 30 days. This was in the wake of a terror attack at Garissa University where at least 147 students and police officers perished in the horrific incident that shocked the world. However, more than 3 years later, the list has never been produced as promised by the outspoken Garissa legislator.
