Covid-19 Positivity Rate at 6.6PC as 451 More Test Positive

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 451 new Covid-19 cases, raising the national tally to 244,380.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, 14th September Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases were detected from 6,833 samples tested in the last 24 hours bringing the total to 2,464,459. The country’s positivity rate is at 6.6 per cent.

Of the cases 436 are Kenyans, 15 are foreigners while 244 are males and 207 are females. The youngest is a three-month-old infant and the oldest is 95 years.

Some 835 patients have recovered from the disease, 770 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 65 were discharged from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 234,737.

The Covid-19 death toll rose to 4,928 after five more patients succumbed.

There are 1,559 patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 3,427 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

At the same time, 122 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 84 of whom are on ventilatory support and 35 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 632 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 574 of them in general wards and 58 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases are spread in counties as follows; Nairobi 115 cases, Nakuru 67, Uasin Gishu 28, Kiambu 26, Nyandarua and Garissa 21 cases, Murang’a 20, Migori 18, Meru 15, Baringo, Laikipia and Kitui 10 cases each, Machakos nine, Narok eight, Kakamega and Turkana seven cases, Marsabit, Mombasa, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet and Kajiado six cases each, Kisumu five, Bungoma, Busia, Kilifi and Nyeri four cases each, Bomet and Makueni two cases each while Tharaka Nithi, Kisii, Lamu and Nyamira had one case each.
