Friday November 30, 2018 - Murder suspects, Michael Oyamo and Caleb Obiero, have accused High Court Judge, Justice Jessie Lessit of discrimination when she granted their co-accused Migori Governor, Okoth Obado, bail to the tune of Sh 5 million. Oyamo, Obiero and Obado are accused of killing University of Rongo student, Sharon Otieno, in August. The three were arrested at the same time but Justice Lessit released the Governor on bail last month. Through their lawyer, Mrs June Ashioya, the suspects argued that Justice Lessit “erred and misdirected herself” when she denied them bail hence denying them their right and fundamental freedoms. When she released Obado, Justice Lessit said evidence against him was circumstantial and not enough to deny him bail. When she was killed, Sharon was 7 months pregnant with Obado’s child. Sources said she was killed after she refused to procure an abortion.
