DAILY POST: I will never forget what UHURU and RUTO did to me! Governor SALIM MVURYA now crying in the toilet after failing to be CoG chair News 06:40

Thursday January 17, 2019 - Kwale County Governor, Salim Mvurya, has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, of betraying him in the just concluded Council of Governors’ elections. This is after the Jubilee Party failed to honour its earlier agreement to elect him as CoG chair and instead backed ODM’s Wycliffe Oparanya for the coveted seat. After 2017 elections, Jubilee Party, under the leadership of Uhuru and Ruto, agreed that Mvurya will be the next Council of Governors chairperson, a move that was seen by many as a reward by Jubilee for standing firm in an Opposition stronghold. But this was not the case as Oparanya was elected chair through the support of Jubilee Governors who are the majority. Since then, Mvurya has never forgiven Uhuru and Ruto and the entire Jubilee Party for their betrayal. "To me, we did not have to go for elections, the council pronounced itself in 2017 and there was supposed to be a transition from that leadership to new leadership," he said. "I was not happy (with the betrayal) so I did not participate in the elections and that puts into question the integrity of the council by vacating an earlier decision” he added.
