NCIC kicks off peace awareness campaigns for the youth

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has kicked off peace awareness campaigns targeting the youth drawn from the country’s informal settlements.

The commission says the group remains vulnerable for abuse thereby easily becoming agents of acts of violence.

As a big four agenda enabler, the commission says it is building capacity among the youth in a bid to sustain the present climate law and order which is critical in attracting investments.

The Commission is engaging youth drawn from various informal settlements in the capital as a means to cultivate an attitude of peace within the younger generation.

The meeting was called by the commission in light of the prevailing atmosphere of peace, which in its opinion must be guarded jealously.

By targeting the youth, NCIC says it is reaching out to a segment of the population that remains vulnerable to acts of violence.

Fully aware of the effect of harmony in country’s economic agenda, the commission says there is every need to bring the youth on board.

The commission has incorporated relevant youth empowerment initiatives in the ongoing peace forums to address idleness and unemployment.
