Panic At EACC As Uhuru Asks New CEO To Clean Rotten Faces At The Commission

There has been an intense lobbying for the EACC CEO Post, as we had earlier reported on your favourite, always ahead blog,

Waqo’s departure comes at a time EACC has lost the confidence of the executive, which is relying more on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate graft cases. In the NYS cases, we say the EACC being sidelined.

According to state-house sources, NIS Director Philip Kameru’s choice for former National Police Service Commissioner Mohamed Murshid did not meet the approval of State House but president Uhuru insisted that the EACC CEO must come from the NIS.

Uhuru seems to have a liking for NIS and military officers to occupy strategic positions in his government. Director of Public Prosecutions Nordin Haji was based at NIS before becoming the DPP. Gordon Kihalangwa the PS ministry of Migration is a former military officer. He was initially director migration services. He was replaced by Alexander Muteshi a former Nis boss in charge of counter-terrorism and coordination.

Although Mbarak retired from Military Intelligence, he also doubled up as covert State Intelligence Officer even as he worked as a senior manager of Kenya Electricity Generating firm.

According to further sources, Uhuru’s pick has humiliated Nancy Gitau who wanted Mubea to be the EACC CEO because he can be easily manipulated especially in matters of corruption investigations.

Already, a petition to investigate Waqo’s operations at EACC and his allies moreso on the controversial purchase in Integrity Centre is being done by two top lawyers as the president seeks to restore confidence in the commission.

Mbarak’s first agenda at EACC will be to clean rotten faces at the anti-graft body deeply involved in corruption and who have acquired massive wealth.
