Police officer commits suicide in Kirinyaga

A police officer in Kirinyaga County committed suicide on Sunday under unclear circumstances.
Constable Gerald Ngige Mwai hanged himself with a leso in the bedroom of his house at Wang’ata village in Kirinyaga Central.
According to Ndia OCPD Mutwiri Mwongera, the officer’s children raised the alarm after finding their father dangling from the roof of the bedroom.
The children then informed their mother who was at a nearby church.
It was not immediately clear why the officer committed suicide.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home.
