DAILY POST: The cold war between EACC’s WABUKALA and DCI, KINOTI, that you didn’t know existed-The shootout was just a tip of the iceberg News 03:17
Friday November 30, 2018-The failed attempt by EACC officials to arrest two detectives from the DCI that led to a shootout, was just a tip of the iceberg to the longstanding cold war that has been ongoing between the office of EACC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, and his DCI counterpart, George Kinoti.
According to sources, EACC is angry with DCI for taking over its investigative roles as far as corruption cases are concerned. In July, EACC Vice Chairperson, Sophia Lepuchirit, sought to have the police barred from investigating corruption cases because the force has been tainted with bribery claims. “In every integrity survey that is done, the police department is always top on matters corruption and this means that they cannot be trusted to fight graft,” Lepuchirit stated. But on the other hand, Kinoti feels that EACC has performed dismally in terms of bring corruption culprits to book despite being funded better than his department; that’s why he feels he is the right man for the job.
