Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says the move to zone voting blocs among Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition affiliate parties was rushed.
According to Kalonzo, more consultation should have been done before the move was announced considering that his party and even other parties within the coalition had already given out nomination certificates to its aspirants.
Kalonzo now wants the decision to be halted until the end of June which according to him will be the right time to determine who between contesting among affiliate parties of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party is more popular.
Kalonzo was speaking while in Voi, en route to Mombasa county where he is expected to officially unveil Mike Mbuvi Sonko as the Gubernatorial aspirant for Mombasa county Saturday at the Tononoka Grounds.
“ The plan should be consultative and all-inclusive. We need an urgent meeting to discuss the matter. I am a party leader and I have never been consulted yet we issued nomination certificates. We are against handpicking of candidates let the zoning system be fair” he told journalists.
Kalozo who has come out to oppose a move by the coalition to zone Nairobi, says Wiper has strong candidates who should not be locked out.
He said the party has issued certificates to several candidates contesting the MP and MCA seats in Nairobi adding that the respective strength of a party and candidate should be a factor.
The party will embark on a series of rallies in Taita Taveta county from Thursday next week.
