‘I do not like to cook!’ Betty Kyallo on stigma around women in the kitchen

Betty Kyallo is one vocal lady and over the years she has learned to grow a thick skin. Now nothing can stop her from speaking her two cents.

In her growing YouTube channel, Betty Kyallo Lately, she has a guest who came to help her cook lunch for the family and it is then she revealed she is not a fan of cooking.

“I do not like to cook. I am not embarrassed anymore. I do not like to cook. As in I come here to kata vitu I just don’t like it. Let me tell you, I promised kina Gloria I would cook for them but since I do not like it they were like, what will this be?” She said

They walked to the kitchen and started chopping the onions. They were preparing corn rice and chicken and so Betty was given the task to remove the corn from the web. That was the beginning of her struggle.

It was hard for her she even cried out saying they are not coming out the right way. She really could not wait to be done.

“You see now my make up is coming out because of this cooking?” Betty said

She mentioned that is doesn’t mean that she will never cook, she just does not enjoy it but she enjoys cleaning.

I will only cook on special occasions. Maybe if manz buys me something, I will reciprocate but rarely. But I am very clean. So the man will either stand a clean house and no food.

There is a lot of stigma on this cooking thing. These expectations that are put out for us women are too much. I hope you not cook because women should cook for their men and children.

Betty went on to explain that she is a hard-working woman and now leaving home early and leaving late does not allow her to do all these things.

I work like a crazy madwoman. Like not, me and my husband have left the house at the same time, then we come back at the same time and we are all so tired and he still expects me to then go to the kitchen and cook? Unless we are helping each other. Not a man who will read the newspaper and wait for me to do it all.

They went on with the discussion and even added that men who do not take their plates to the kitchen but will wake up to go wash their hands are just overboard. This discussion was interrupted by her sister, Gloria who came to say there are no tomatoes in the fridge but they, later on, got them and finished up on the food.
