Nakuru County Senator Susan Kihika harsh statement on police brutality has sparked mixed reactions.
Speaking during funeral of three victims of police brutality in Lessos on Thursday 2 July, Kihika strongly condemned police brutality warning that Kenyans may end up burning all police stations if officers continue killing innocent souls instead of protecting them.
“We shall not stand and watch you do this to our fellow Kenyans, tutachoma police stations zote Kenya if this continues, ” reads Kihika’s system in part.
Reports indicated that police officers killed three residents in Lessos last week, and one of the victims was a handicapped man who intervened when an officer was harassing a boda boda rider for not wearing a mask was shot dead.
The lawmaker’s harsh statement sparked mixed reactions with NARK leader Martha Karua referring to Kihika’s statement on police brutality as grit adding that every speech must be put into context.
“Hypocrisy and you want to be a president while you are lauding someone saying police stations must be burnt, ” one user stated.
“But she’s not holding any flag, so let her be. She has fought her battles, some to the interest of mwananchi, some to the interest of her masters. History has it all, ” another user stated.
