Breaking: Renowned Sociologist and UoN Lecturer Ken Ouko Dies of Covid-19

Renowned University of Nairobi lecturer and sociologist Ken Ouko has passed on.

Dr. Ouko died on Saturday morning (August 1st) at the Nairobi Hospital following COVID-19 complications, University of Nairobi communications director John Orindi has confirmed.

He is the 5th UoN Don to succumb in less than two months.

Kenyans have taken to social media to send their messages of condolences.

The lecturer’s professional opinion was widely sought by journalists seeking to explain existing and emerging social phenomena, including the rise of gambling addiction in Kenya, why there has been an upsurge of jealousy-motivated killings in marriages, among others.
