East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Florence Jematia will be detained for one more day pending the hearing and determination of her bail application.

Jematia was produced before Kabarnet Law Courts Resident Magistrate Nerolyne Idagwa over incitement remarks she made at Lamaiywe, Baringo South during a prayer service.

The magistrate ordered that the EALA member be remanded until Friday when the court will rule on her bail application.

The prosecution accused Jematia of uttering words with subversive intentions contrary to section 77 (1) of the penal code and requested the court to detain her for five days as they complete investigations.

Her lawyer Kipkemboi Sirma requested the court to release the EALA member on a cash bail and defended her, saying his client remarks were misinterpreted.
