Contractors for the new CBC classrooms in Kisii County who are working behind schedule have been put on notice that they risk losing their contracts if they don’t move with speed to complete the infrastructure by end of this month.
Speaking during the launch of the CBC classroom at Kiendege Secondary School in Moticho Ward, Etago Sub-county yesterday, County Commissioner Allan Machari said that if proper strategies are put in place, the County is at 70% will hit 100pc completion rate by 28th of this month.
Machari who was accompanied by the members of the County CBC Infrastructure Implementation Coordination Committee on a tour to inspect the status of the ongoing works in the area, applauded the contractors who had completed and handed over keys to the new classrooms saying it was until then that the government will release the payment.
Machari expressed optimism that all the 243 classrooms in the County will be completed before the onset of the national examinations and appealed to learners to utilize the available resources provided by the government among other stakeholders to empower themselves and become useful members of society.
County Director Education Isaac Ngoma noted that at least 6 classrooms had been completed in various sub-counties, and others were at 80% completion.
Ngoma appealed to contractors to hurry up with completion to give room for national exams when no other activities will be allowed to go on the schools’ premises.
During the tour, CC commissioned another classroom at Keore secondary School in Kitutu Central Sub County
