Friday January 18, 2019-The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Babu Owino as Embakasi East MP, stating that he was validly elected.

In the judgement delivered on Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed with costs all the appeal grounds including the election process being marred with irregularities and violence filed by Babu Owino’s competitor, Francis Mureithi. According to the Supreme Court, Mureithi will bear all costs involving the matter, including amount which Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Babu had been ordered to pay by the lower courts. Speaking after his victory, Babu Owino thanked his lawyers, including Siaya Senator James Orengo, for successfully fighting for his victory. "I thank my constituents for giving me support and mandate to serve.” “I am now settled for once as an MP since my election in August 2017.” “I am now determined to serve having delivered 70% of my promises.” “My focus will also to defend the Building Bridges Initiative," Owino said.
