The future of DCI’s Child Protection Unit seems to be in turmoil as cartels take control of the only state unit mandated to investigate and prosecute cases involving child rights abuse in the country.
All has not been well at the unit’s offices based at DCI headquarters since its launch in 2018.
According to sources privy to current happenings at the unit, a senior superintendent of police at the office has been running the unit like personal property.
The senior detective known to have the backing of powerful godfathers in the National Police Service has gone to an extent of running a ring of extortionists in the form of informers who target wealthy tourists who frequently visit the Coastal town of Mombasa and its environs.
This has put the bragging female officer at loggerheads with her juniors who now threaten to expose her illegal activities as they accuse her of being insensitive and unfair to them and the general public.
The officer known to be wealthy is said to be using her informers, mostly well connected twilights girls to help her accomplish her mission of extorting millions of shillings from rich investors and foreigners in particular.
She is alleged to have created a web of extortionists across the country, who a majority of her juniors have now threatened to expose her for tainting the image of the National Police Service.
Millions of shillings have reportedly been changing hands as she allegedly threatens innocent people particularly foreigners and other rich Kenyans believed to have fallen into her extortion net.

The extortion syndicate ruined lives of many innocent foreigners who ended up being slapped with fictitious charges of indecent acts and defilement.
The cartel has enlisted informers, according to sources, mostly twilights in Mombasa and Malindi, who profile foreigners and tourists through direct orders from her, before fixing them into their traps of extortion.
One of the informers-cum-conspirator has gone even to an extent of using her underage girls to fix foreigners on intentional claims that they had defiled her.
Sofia Sein Mutaiwua was recently arrested and charged at Shanzu Law Courts after their scheme of fixing and extorting a tourist who had just arrived in the country from Britain flopped indefinitely.
According to an affidavit shown to Weekly Citizen, Sofia and her 17-year-old daughter had conspired to set up the victim whom she later accused of attempts to defile the girl at a friend’s house in Mtwapa.
The trap claimed to have been set up was aimed at putting pressure on the victim to admit quilt before they could embark on a ‘plea bargaining tricks’ where he would have been forced to part with money in millions of shillings.
But who is this senior superintendent of police at the Child Protection Unit at the DCI? The woman is alleged to be arrogant and authoritative to her juniors. The woman in her 50s is money lover and brags to be connected to the Kikuyu Mafia. She brags to be having wealth which originates from her tax collection syndicate. The ill-gotten wealth has now started haunting her, where his deputy one Wafula is now worried man. The woman is being seen talking to herself saying that she will not lose her pension alone yet this is a wellknown web.
She is said to be living in total fear after a member of Sofia’s family one Jimmy, allegedly threatened to expose her evil-doings unless she lobbies for termination of the case currently facing his mother at a Shanzu Law Court.
Sources privy to the goings-one confirmed to Weekly Citizen that the Sofia’s son issued an ultimatum after the rogue police officer failed recently to secure release of his mother from police cell where she had been locked following her arrest over claims that she gave false information to the police.
The threats emanating from the son forced the irate officer to seek for some days off last week according to his deputy who is tired of the extortion syndicate which is tearing the child protection unit apart.
Sofia’s son was said to baying for the officer blood as he accuses her of leaving his now traumatised mother to suffer public humiliations.
The police officer was one time seen regularly visiting Sofia’s house in Mtwapa where a number of plots to fix some foreigners were allegedly schemed and finalised.
On her recent investigations of child allegation abuse in Mombasa, she was sleeping in the house of one of her informers who is now facing death sentence after she framed a British national on the outskirts of Mtwapa, in Kilifi county. The case has turned nasty with the said police officer pleading for the termination of the case by Deputy Assistant Director of Prosecution a Mr Okemo.
The woman is bragging to many that she came face to face with Okemo who has promised her that the case will be withdrawn so that it is does not interfere with Malindi case in which they fixed a Turkish national, according to a police officer attached at the same department who is conversant with deal that went sour.
It has also emerged that the police officer and Sofia were having an online international dating platform they allegedly use to lure sex perverts and rich foreigners into their extortion traps.
Sofia’s profile according to the dating site was being used with photos of a beautiful young girl claimed to be one of her daughters.
Those privy with the happenings said many rich and innocent men have fallen into the trap after being lured to enter into relations through the dating site.
A number of victims mostly foreigners have allegedly been lured only to end up in jail after being accused of framed-up charges with defilement at the top.
