The Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua has transferred Manyatta Sub-county Police Commander Emily Ngaruiya and OCS Manyatta police station Abdulahi Yaya .
This is after two brothers died after they were arrested by police for flouting curfew hours.
The DIG said the officers cannot continue being in the station because they are not in good terms with the locals following the mysterious death of the two brothers in .
Police alleged that the two jumped from a moving police vehicle and died on the spot. Autopsy later revealed that they had head injuries occasioned by being beaten using a blunt object.
Mbugua ordered regional police commander John Mwaivanda to recall the two officers to his office as they wait for deployment to their new stations.
He urged locals to write names of police officers whom they suspect have been extorting money from locals in the name of enforcing curfew hours and instead molesting locals.
“I will transfer all junior officers from Manyatta to my office. They will just be saluting me when entering my office. I will see who they will extort money from,” Mbugua said.
Eastern Regional commissioner Isaiah Nakoru also said they are already investigating circumstances under which the two brothers.
“It is unfortunate that we lost those young boys,”Nakoru said.
He also discouraged locals from giving police money because they encourage them to continue extorting them.
The RC also urged police to always create a good rapport with residents.
