State agencies are investigating bribery saga in which it’s claimed Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu compromised then Kiambu Principal Magistrate Brian Khaenba with sh1m to make a favourable ruling.

Khaemba has since been transferred by Judiciary Service Commission to Thika Law Courts.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had petitioned the JSC to investigate Khaemba’s conduct when he granted Waititu a bail while he was on sick leave.

Already Khaemba’s bank accounts and those of his close family and associates are being investigated.

Not spared are bank accounts operated by lawyers acting on behalf of Waititu.

Also being investigated are family members of the governor and three business associates who are said to have withdrawn sh200, 000 each to raise the sh1m to compromise the magistrate.

Part of the money was also used to mobilize Waititu’s supporters to pitch tent at the EACC headquarters in solidarity with the embattled governor while he was being grilled.
