Disbelief as Kalonzo Wiper party snubs ex-MCA’s burial – Weekly Citizen

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is in trouble after failing to attend or even send a representative during the burial of former MCA Ann Wairimu in Matungulu.
Former Machakos deputy governor Bernard Kiala is bitter that Wairimu was a life member of the party after ditching Jubilee. Wiper party did not send any a condolence message or contribution yet she was a member.
To Matungulu MP Stephen Mule, Wiper party should not be expected to undertake development projects yet the national and county governments are there for that. Among other leaders who had attended the burial included former Machakos senator Johnson Muthama.

It has emerged Wiper leader was absent because he was in Mozambique to oversee presidential polls as special envoy.

However, his decision not to send Muthama to represent the party has exposed the bad political blood between the two heavyweights in local politics.
Wairimu died in a grisly road accident along Nairobi-Kangundo road. Muthama is scheming to run for Machakos governorship 2022 but Kalonzo is said to be against.

Governor Mutua

Deputy Governor Francis Maliti is being pushed by Governor Alfred Mutua to succeed him on Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
The county was thrown into mourning following the death of two former MCAs. Apart from Wairimu, former Kangundo West MCA Winston Kanui died in his sleep in his home in Kakuyuni in a suspected case of choking.
Former Machakos speaker Bernard Mung’ata eulogised the two as hardworking and dedicated leaders who did their best during their time in service.
With Mutua’s term in office ending, secret meetings to succeed him are on.
Analysts say 2022 Machakos gubernatorial race will be one of the interesting political contests.
The county is believed to be a Wiper party stronghold despite last election shock defeat to Governor Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap party. Others eyeing governorship slot are former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Kiala
