Ex-CS aide in defilement case yet to get witness statement : The Standard

A former aide to a Cabinet Secretary who is charged with defiling his boss's 16-year-old daughter on Friday accused the prosecution of failing to supply him with witness statements. Reuben Kiborek has denied defiling the teenager in Nakuru on December 23, 2018. Through his lawyer Gordon Ogola during a pre-trial conference yesterday, Kiborek said the prosecution is yet to supply him with witness statements and documents to allow him prepare for his case. “The matter was coming up today for a pre-trial conference to confirm whether the State has supplied us with statement; we however confirm that we have received none,” lawyer Ogola said.

He pleaded with the court to issue orders compelling the prosecution to supply them with the statements. Kiborek’s claims come at a time when the minor's family is fighting to have his bond terms reviewed. “We have just been served with an application dated January 3, 2019. It is lengthy and raises substantive issues, but the most glaring one is the accusation that the court is incompetent on how case was handled during plea,” said the lawyer.
