Friends have abandoned helping the financially crippled Naivasha-based Ngirita family.
Initially, friends could chip in and offset school fees payments, lend money to buy food and repay debts on grounds that the state was set to unfreeze family bank accounts running into millions of shillings held by different members of family spread across banks.
Now with the state adamant not to allow family members access the bank accounts, things are becoming difficulty for the members come day and night as friends have refused to help. So bad is the situation that members of the family facing criminal charges have lost weight and now hike lifts to attend court proceedings.
Due to bad financial moments, one of the family member, Phyllis Njeri Ngirita, is the most hit.
She has moved to court making an application to have orders issued to release Sh700,000 to pay school fees for her son kicked out of school.
The school is demanding Sh3,479,299 fees arrears according to documents filed in court and seen by Weekly Citizen.
The banks accounts were frozen after theft of National Youth Service tender scandals broke out. Assets Recovery Agency claims the payment was fraud and no goods were procured.
