How Ruto humiliated former UoN VC Prof. Mbithi – Weekly Citizen

Fresh details are emerging of how the immediate former University of Nairobi Vice- Chancellor Prof. Peter Mbithi tried to reach Deputy President William Ruto during his last days in office.

Prof. Mbithi had helped Ruto get a doctorate degree that generated a lot of controversy during his tenure as VC.

He had also awarded a multi-million security tender to Lavington Security Company, associated with Ruto ally.

When the council refused to extend his tenure after State House read a riot act, Mbithi drove to Ruto official residence in Karen.

Initially while still in office, Prof Mbithi could drive in and out but on this day, he was surprised when he was told the DP was not going to see him.

When he introduced himself as VC of UoN, the security team dismissed him saying they were under instruction not to allow him in.

The reason given was that the DP did not want to rub State House on the wrong foot by trying to intervene on his behalf.

It has also emerged that, a bitter Prof Mbithi now claims he was forced to give sh400, 000 towards Uhuruto 2017 campaigns from varsity coffers.

He was assured of contract renewal after giving the hefty cash only to be abandoned and now a lonely man.
