The intergovernmental authority on development-IGAD is in the process of developing a digital platform to enable timely and effective sharing of information between public media institutions of member states.
In a speech read on his behalf during a national public media workshop on the platform in Entebbe, Uganda, IGAD executive secretary Mahboub Maalim said the platform will go a long way in enhancing regional integration among member states.
On his part, IGAD communication officer Mohammed Abdillahi, who is spearheading the initiative, said the digital link is also aimed at incorporating information communication technology-ICT in highlighting IGAD regional and bilateral issues.
The platform is expected to be operational by mid next year after an IGAD Conference for Ministers in charge of Information to endorse it.
