Kilifi governor Amason Kingi and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who were at one time political allies have vowed to fight each other politically to the bitter end ahead of 2022.
A politically-wounded Jumwa reportedly intends to expose Kingi’s fishy dealings in the county government, lamenting that her current tribulations in the hands of law enforcement agencies have partly been caused by the governor whom she claims is pushing for her imprisonment.
“I want to tell Governor Kingi that I’m ready to go to jail if that will help the people of Rabai and other areas in the county get clean water. The governor was elected to help his people but he has turned against them through theft of their resources which end up in individuals’ pockets. Let Kingi style up,” Jumwa hit out at the governor in a meeting held at her Kakuyuni home last week.
A few days later however, the Malindi MP was exposed as having used her close relatives and companies fronted by them to allegedly loot millions of shillings from the NG-CDF and the county government.
The MP, her daughter and son together with her aide are in hot soup over unexplained millions of shillings in their bank accounts. The transactions which are under investigations by the DCI are suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The discovery of the suspicious financial transactions comes a few weeks after the legislator and her aide were arrested over chaos and murder that occurred a day before a by-election in Ganda ward in her constituency in which ODM party triumphed.
She is out of a bail of Sh500,000.
The combative legislator is eyeing the Kilifi county governor seat after the expiry of Kingi’s second term in 2022. Initially, she was a close associate of the governor with whom they were suspected to be business partners.
However, the duo started parting ways when Jumwa declared war against Mombasa governor Hassan Joho against Kingi’s counsel. However, the killing of Ngumbao Jola prompted the governor to attack the MP publicly for the first time and since then, their relationship has gone from bad to worse.
