Police in Kirinyaga County have launched
a hunt for a 39-year-old man who stabbed his brother to death for
allegedly insulting him at their home in Mwiboni village, Gichugu
Constituency.

According to the siblings’ father, 80-year-old Martin Njine, his
elder son Mathew Njuki aged 42 came home drunk at around 2am and
confronted his brother Anthony Muriithi aged 39.

Njuki is reported to have insulted his brother accusing him of being unable to sire children.

Angered by his brothers remarks, Muriithi grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him to death.

“I was shocked to see my cousin Mathew Njuki lying in a pool of blood in the compound,” their cousin John Mwaniki said.

Confirming the incident, Gichugu OCPD Anthony Mbogo said a search was underway for the suspect who fled after the incident.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home.
