Scope

Responsible for all soiled hotel bed linens, towels, food and beverage table linens, staff uniforms, and guest items are laundered or sent out for dry cleaning in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards laid out by Management to ensure maximum internal and external customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of Housekeeping equipment and ensure they are used only as intended.
• Anticipate, acknowledge, and respond promptly to all guest needs and resolve any guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Verify guest laundry against laundry slip in and out, and record in log.
• Prepare guest/hotel management dry cleaning to be collected by subcontractor.
• Check guest/hotel management dry cleaning and employee delivered by subcontractor for quality of cleaning, any damage, and accuracy of charges.
• Tag and report damaged items received from guests and advise Laundry Supervisor to confirm if they wish to have the item repaired as per the guidelines.
• Process guest requests for pressing of clothes as assigned.
• Receive employee uniforms for cleaning.
• Complete Daily Uniform Cleaning Control Sheet for all employee uniforms.
• Separate soiled uniforms as required that will be cleaned in-house.
• Organize and hang all cleaned employee uniforms.
• Issue clean or new uniforms to employees.
• Complete a Temporary Uniform Issuance form for temporary uniforms issued to employees.
• Issue rags/service towels to the Food and Beverage department.
• Complete and verify the Uniform Request form for new employees, or employees departing the company.
• Clean all machines and equipment as per the guidelines.
• Complete and file paperwork as per the guidelines.
• Monitor and maintain designated supply levels.
• Re-stock all supplies and advise next shift of all pertinent information.
• Legibly document information on uniform slips and distribute accurately. Legibly document and coordinate guest and hotel management laundry/dry cleaning and hotel uniforms to be picked up and cleaned by any subcontracted service company.
• Inspect condition, charges, and amount of cleaned items received from any subcontracted service company and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
• Organise all cleaned laundry/dry cleaning and uniforms into designated order and racks.
• Monitor and maintain the orderly and clean condition of the laundry and uniform rooms.
• Remove substandard uniforms from circulation and reassign replacements and advise the Laundry Supervisor as per the guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of all assigned and unassigned uniforms as per the guidelines.
• Distribute all paperwork to designated personnel/departments as per the guidelines.
• Coordinate repairs for hotel staff uniforms.
• Report all shortages, damages, maintenance requests, problems and linen/uniform availability to the Laundry Supervisor as per the guidelines.
• Adhere to hotel grooming, personal hygiene and uniform standard as per the guidelines.
• Adhere to the daily checklists and notify management of any discrepancies.
• Adhere to scheduled work times by reporting promptly as scheduled.
• Read and understand the hotel’s Employee Handbook and adhere to the hotel’s rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as and when required.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by the Laundry Supervisor.

Ancillary duties

• Represent the department or group in various committees, e.g. Staff committees, Green Theme (environmental), or Sport committees.
• Be trained as a Fire Marshal and/ First Aider and an on the job trainer.
• Skills and Other Competencies
• Excellent reading, verbal and written English skills.
• Capable of effectively & efficiently delegating multiple tasks.
• Basic Mathematical skills
• Be tech savvy and have a working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office).
• Customer service oriented with a positive, energetic, and outgoing can do attitude.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Have a high degree of emotional intelligence and a high level of self-confidence.
• Be able to remain rational and calm under pressure.
• Able to endure working in areas of high temperatures with accumulations of lint.
• Be able to work under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold), under variable noise levels, outdoors/indoors, around fumes and/or odor hazards, around pest hazards, around chemicals, and with bio-hazardous materials.
• Be able to stand or walk for an extended period.
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 22 kilograms without assistance.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Education Qualification
• High school graduate or equivalent vocational training. ·
• Hospitality Certification is a plus

 Work Experience

• Experience in a similar position.
