MC Jessy bows out of South Imenti race

On Wednesday, Deputy President William Ruto announced the renowned comedian, whose real name is Jasper Muthomi, had agreed on a deal not to contest in the August 2022 polls.

MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favor of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat.

Ruto clarified that the media personality had accepted to step down for his opponent namely Mwiti Kathaara in the battle for the Imenti South constituency seat in a negotiated democracy format and will in turn join his presidential campaign team. The aspirants were eyeing the seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, a political outfit associated with the DP. MC Jessy joined UDA in February after a successful career on the entertainment scene spanning over a decade whose highlight was the rib-cracking jokes on the Churchill Show comedy series. “The ground work that has been done has landed on the side of winning team,” he said at the time. He is yet to formally comment on the move even as Kenyans shared their thoughts on social media.

In just three months, MC Jessy has cracked jokes on Churchill Show, boarded Kirauti Murungi's Mbus Party, alighted at South Imenti Stage, joined UDA Party, vied for MP, stepped down from race, and will now be writing jokes for Itumbi to tweet. Of this earth meeting has defeated.
