Huruma MCA Peter Chomba has petitioned the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to probe Uasin Gishu county officials over alleged bribery at the Eldoret wholesale market.
According to Chomba, officials from the department of trade and environment have been harassing traders at the market.

Those targeted include people selling bananas at the market.
“I have received information from those selling bananas at the wholesale market that there are some county askaris who visit them weekly to take a bribe of Sh500 failure to which they will not be allowed to continue with their business yet they have paid county levies,” said the MCA.
Chomba said that due to fear of being evicted from the market, they have been parting with the Sh500 bribe.
“I want to urge the EACC to do an investigation and arrest officers involved in corruption in the Eldoret wholesale market since 95pc of them are poor,” added the Jubilee party MCA. He accused Governor Jackson Mandago of abandoning voters who helped him ascend to power
