Meru MCAs are at war with speaker Joseph Kaberia for allegedly sabotaging the work of the implementation committee. Implementation committee chair Elijah Kirimi has denied claims that his team has been lazy but blames leadership of the legislature of antagonising members. Kirimi, the Kibirichia MCA, is accused of being docile with a number of MCAs calling on him to tender his resignation from the important oversight committee as laws passed are not implemented. Implementation committee has further been accused by MCAs for failure to execute its mandate of ensuring motions passed in the assembly are implemented by county executive.
Meru municipality MCA Elias Murega claims that Governor Kiraitu Murungi executive has been intimidating the assembly by failing to assent or implement passed motions. Among motions being examined include those on eucalyptus removal along water banks, assisting of street families, awarding youth and people with disability tenders, drainage repair in Meru county towns, miraa legal support motion, data base collection for roads, blood bank motion as among motions neglected by the Meru county executive after they were passed.
Kibirichia MCA Kirimi has defended the committee blaming the speaker Kaberia for not being cooperative and being Kiraitu’s stooge. Kaberia never releases facilitation fees of committees. Miriam Kajuju, a nominated MCA, wants Kaberia to fully support the implementation committee for it to execute its mandate a move that is supported by Naathu MCA Samuel Mutura.
