Kiambu deputy governor James Nyoro and Thika MP Patrick Wainaina have teamed in a spirited war against land grabbing and fraud in Thika and Kiambu county in general.
While addressing Thika business community, Nyoro and Wainaina vowed to ensure that grabbed public utility lands and those illegally acquired are repossessed immediately.
They noted cases of land fraud in Thika were alarmingly high and have to be tamed.
Nyoro said plots and land have been illegally lost to land speculators. “We will sit down with business community and local leadership and list all the grabbed land so that repossession of the same can be immediately carried out. It will not matter who has grabbed what or what development has been done. We will get them back,” Nyoro emphasised.
Wainaina said it is disheartening and worrying to note that grabbers are being clandestinely issued with title deeds by county government claims that Nyoro denied.
He regretted that half of Kisiwa Primary School in Ngoingwa Estate has already been grabbed. “From now henceforth, land grabbing will be a thing of the past in Thika.
If you want land, purchase it genuinely as there is abundant land for sale,” the MP said. Nyoro said he had talked with Posta so that the Kiambu government can buy its land in Makongeni which the government had converted into a bus park.
The government repossessed the land from a grabber.
