DAILY POST: RAILA ODINGA is dreaming about referendum, there will be no plebiscite – RUTO says as he tells him to retire and go to BONDO , 00:40 Monday December 24, 2018-Deputy President William Ruto has said those calling for a referendum are day dreaming because the country is not ready for plebiscite.
Speaking during the homecoming of Sirisia MP, John Waluke, in Kakamega County on Sunday, Ruto laughed off plans for a referendum to change the supreme law saying Kenyans will not create more seats for "individuals who ought to retire from politics honourably". "As a country, we cannot change the law to have Kabuchai constituency merge with Sirisia or have some wards merging so that we create a position for someone in Nairobi," Ruto said. The referendum debate has seen Ruto rally his team to oppose the proposal as fronted by ODM leader Raila Odinga during the 2018 devolution conference in Kakamega. Among proposals the team is conducting public participation on is the proposal to expand the executive to create a Prime Minister's post and to reduce number of counties.  But Ruto maintained that Kenyans will not allow an old man to confuse them by creating more positions in Nairobi.  Ruto said what leaders should be concentrating about is how to improve the lives of their citizens. “The issues of politics and election are way behind us. What we now want is total development for Wanjiku,” Ruto said.
