Mombasa politician Ali Mwatsahu has lambasted Governor Hassan Joho and other Coast politicians who are waging a war of words against William Ruto with the aim of blocking his presidential ambitions come 2022.
Mwatsahu said in a press statement that Ruto is in touch with the common man unlike his opponents including Joho who are people of class and do not care about the ordinary citizen.
“Why should Ruto be fought simply for expressing his ambitions? What mistake has he committed by touring different parts of the country or even contributing money towards community projects?” posed Mwatsahu.
Mwatsahu who has declared interest for Mvita parliamentary seat in the next general elections claimed the reason why Joho is fighting Ruto is because he is desperate for cheap publicity which after the coming of the handshake.

“Remember, Joho gained cheap publicity and managed a comeback through abusing the president. Now that there is a handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, the governor is now seeking for cheap publicity through attacking DP,” said Mwatsahu

He said Kenyans are now clever and not easy to manipulate. He said the next general elections will be fought not on the basis of propaganda but those who would have made development their priority to benefit the people.
Mwatsahu said Mombasa county has not felt the impact of devolution like other counties. He claimed the defunct Mombasa municipal council was more responsive to the needs of the residents than the county leadership which has failed the people.
“When you look at Mombasa county, there are disappointments everywhere. Garbage collection is in a mess, roads are pathetic, water distribution is for the few, no new markets, no housing. It’s irritating to see people chestthumping for nothing and wanting to become presidents when they cannot run a county,” he said.
