Ambira High School which was caught in a storm after some of its candidates were caught on camera hurling insults at top government officials managed a mean score of 5.9 in this year’s KCSE.

This was a significant drop from last year’s exams when it posted a mean score of 6.1, although could not be immediately attributed to the incident.
The school will however see 76 of its candidates admitted to University.
Teachers at the school in Siaya County confirmed the results but were not willing to discuss it further.

They also confirmed that all 16 candidates arrested for allegedly insulting Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and her Interior counterpart Fred Matiang’i got their results.
The students were arrested over the offence they allegedly committed on the day they completed their examinations, but were later released for lack of evidence.
The Standard can confirm that the candidates scored between D+ (plus) and B- (minus).
“I wish to confirm that all the boys who were involved in the mess have gotten their results,” said a senior teacher who requested not to be named.
They were released on December 3 after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) failed to prefer charges against them.

On December 3, State Prosecutor David Okachi told court that they had no objection against the release of the boys since the police had not availed any evidence against them.
The incident provoked the wrath of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who said they should be punished.
On the other hand, Siaya Senator James Orengo said the students were influenced by the rot in the country’s politics, since they always see politicians insulting each other.
In the video, the students burnt their books and other learning materials as they hurled insults at the CSs soon after sitting their last papers.
