Transport CAS Chris Obure has resigned to contest for the Kisii Governor’s seat in the August 2022 elections joining a host of other Government officials who have quit.

Obure who was flanked by CS James Macharia said he will seek the Azimio la Umoja ticket in his bid to succeed Governor James Ongwae.

Macharia on the other hand said he is still contemplating on whether to resign or not saying he decides he will make it public.

Obure’s entry makes Kisii gubernatorial race a mouthwatering clash pitting veteran and youthful politicians from the region.

He will face off with Senator Sam Ongeri, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and former MP Omingo Magara who have expressed interest in the seat.

Obure is a veteran politician who has served not just as an MP and the first Senator of Kisii but also as a Government Minister in previous regimes.

CS Macharia lauded his work ethic wishing him well in his new conquest.
